We will continue to document our travels across the Western Hemisphere!

Pope, Coloseum, Forum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Patheon

We did a LOT today! We were on our feet from 9:30am until 6:30pm. Our first stop was stores for me... below is me- doing as the Romans do-- dressing like a fashion model!

Me, being Italian
March 17

Seriously, everyone dresses like they are going to a Vogue photoshoot! Even the men! Actually, especially the men. Love it!

The Pope
March 17

We had planned on going to the Vatican today and spending the whole day touring St Peters and the museums and stuff but apparently every Wednesday morning the Pope comes out to say a few words. Here he is, just a few feet from us!!!! We got to see the POPE!!! He is much smaller in person. And I always kinda thought he was a somewhat evil-looking pope-- not that I think he is evil-- just his features. However, I listened to his sermon and his voice is really soft and calming-- it really changed my opinion on him. The entire square was FULL of people.

Pope Guard

The guards are dressed ridiculously. This is me asking one when the church opens for us to go in. He said 1pm, so we decided to head over to ancient Rome for the day instead.

The Coloseum

We visited the Coloseum first. We are too broke to afford the admission, as usual, so we just took pictures around the outside and listened to Rick Steve's podcast about it.

The Roman Forum

Here is another place that we were too broke to afford admission too but once again there is plenty to see from the outside! This stuff is all located in the middle of city! People are walking around these ancient amazing ruins during their everyday lives, like it's no big d! Crazy.

Arch of Triumph

All this stuff is surprisingly close together. We saw pretty much all the tourist-y stuff in one day of walking.

The Trevi Fountain

This thing is huge! Much bigger than I thought. Designed by Michaelangelo, hee hee! It was totally crowded around it with other tourists.

Gelato!

OMG Gelato is amazing! This is my fourth gelato! I know every one says it's amazing and blah blah blah, but it really is! I don't know if it's the Rome heat but I've never had any ice cream so delicious.

Us sitting on the Spanish Steps

The Spanish Steps weren't as awesome everything else but it was still nice to see them. We took a break from all the walking here.

The Pantheon

This thing is huge! Much bigger than all the buildings around it. Those Romans really know how to do it up big.

We love it here so far. I can't wait to do more tomorrow.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
