March 2-3
London, England
The cheap campers have landed in Europe!
First stop: London. Now, us as cheap campers have gone to several expensive cities lately but nothing compares to London! Uber-expensive is the only phrase that properly describes the amount of money bleeding from our cheap camping wallets! It's also very strange to describe the cost of things in what I know as a unit of weight....
That aside, in one night we saw many of the fun tourist-y things in London. After a shower and a nap at our surprisingly cushy, plush hostel (St.Chistopher's Inn) we embarked on a night-time walking journey to Hyde Park. Most of the stuff London is known for is within the 3 mile stretch between Hyde Park and the Thames River. We saved ourselves about $20 by walking instead of taking the bus (and probably lost about 5lbs by walking the distance!).

We walked along the Thames River and it was everything they say it is. We will have to come back to check out all the free museums but for now we are headed to Bath for a few days.
My take on London is that is it really large and rather unwelcoming. But the people are nice if you play into their world-weary thing. We've met a few other world travelers that so far are the friendliest. It seems that Londoners are just used to travelers like they're used to paying taxes. I love listening to everyone's accents! So far we haven't met ANY other Americans.... lots of Australians however.
