Leaning Tower of Pisa
March 25
It definitely leans and look pretty silly next to this beautiful church. Especially cuz the tower itself is also really beautifully made.
Phil pushing it over?
We were unable to find a Leaning Tower of Pisa saltshaker that Phil so adored during his childhood, but it was still a fun day. We even bought me a pretty dress for our very special upcoming weekend in Venice! Hee hee!
Statue of Romulus and Remus
March 25
A neat bonus of the Leaning Tower is this cool statue of Romulus and Remus that's in the same plaza. It's based on the mythical origins of Rome's namesake. It's, like, one of the oldest statues, or something or other (google it if you really are interested, I've heard too much history in the last 25 days to get it all straight).
Pretty Church Next to the Leaning Tower
This is a beautiful church next to the tower. Poor thing... gets totally overshadowed by imperfect architecture. And yes, that's my feet in the bottom on the picture.
Another wonderful day in Florence. This has been my favorite destination and favorite hostel stay of the trip. We got free laundry, a cool roommate, no bunk beds, and a nice shower WITH toilets that have toilet seats! All things I have never appreciated more in my life. Add to that a beautiful city where the people all dress like fashion models and eat amazing food and you have one happy traveler.
Tomorrow we leave for Venice where we will stay for three nights.
It is a beautiful tower! I never realized. And the church next to it is magnificent. Cloudy there, huh? Here too. But getting warmer everyday. Love your blogs!
ReplyDeleteI love your blogs too! Hey Phil, I didn't think you remembered that leaning Tower of Pisa ... cheese shaker, I think! Too bad...I would have saved it for you. Your blog and pictures and details are amazing...thanks for sharing. mom
